A short story of intense emotions of faith, endurance, and survival. 'Her' is my protagonist here, but this relates equally well to any individual who has embraced the virtue of selflessness, but was probably too Naive to have escaped being caught in the web of life...but this naive simple girl with wide friendly loving eyes, so eager to believe appearances, Did eventually Emerge...
They say she's got a sombre look,
She says nothing,
Her eyes gazing into nothingness,
She remembers the days when she too was a chirpy young girl,
Full of life, colors and love...
And there she lay now like a withered flower,
Astounded at what the years have done to her!!!
Years of her selfless love,
But the apathy of the ones she loved,
Had emotionally hardened a heart once so tender,
With all feelings deadened, and numbed from Pain...
Pain brought upon by the ones she treasured most.
She lived in a state of self-deceit for long,
Holding onto and trusting in her love, but...
Alas! It simply wasn't meant to be.
With a deep sigh she wished,
"If only I could turn back time, And live life one more time,
I wouldn't be crying over the wasted years,
I would've been spared all the tears.
If and Only if, I could turn back time and live life one more time..."
BUT all this while, there was one thing she was achieving,
Freedom...
Freedom from her sensitivity to hurt,
And there was forming a Tougher, Stronger her,
Though unknowingly, like a blessing in disguise.
The look might be sombre,
But the quest was bounce back survival,
With a message put well across to those who 'Crushed' her...
"Don't be too shallow a soul,
Have the wisdom to
Live up to the trust of those
Who have entrusted their lives unto 'You'."
And thence emerged a 'Golden Sculpture',
Like gold tested in fire and moulded tough,
Standing tall amongst all,
Enduring, Imperishable, Indestructible.
